Micayla's First Birthday

We survived the first birthday party. Really, I had no idea what to expect because I can't tell you the last first birthday party I went to for someone. Thankfully, Micayla took a good nap before the party, and we strategically planned the party to only last 1 1/2 hours. She, of course, was more interested in the wrapping paper and bows than she was in the actual presents, but that's to be expected. Everyone said that the cookies and the pink lemonade cupcakes that we had were wonderful--which after making 60 cupcakes to get just the right flavor, and making about 40 cookies to make sure that they looked good made me feel good for my efforts. Here's a few pictures of the big day!

The one-year-old!

Some relatives sent her a Minnie Mouse "twinkle toes" outfit (it says "Twinkle Toes" on the back of the coat)...too bad M had her eyes closed for that picture.

This is a really funny gift from a relative in California--it's a little deer in a purse. On the side of the purse it says "Little Dear." You pull out the deer and it's a stuffed white tail deer. Now, if you hunt (how many of my readers are big hunters? ha ha), you will get the joke that Micayla bagged her first deer. :) The cousins that sent this to her are avid hunters, so this made complete sense coming from them. (Apparently the husband told his wife when she brought it to him that he couldn't cook that for dinner since they were grocery shopping at the time.)

The "favors"--cupcake shaped sugar cookies....they were so good! (Thanks S!)

The happy family!

The birthday girl before the party!

I'm not sure why my pictures are so yellow for some of these---but these are the cupcakes and the chips/dip we had.

Smushing the cupcake--still not sure if she actually ate any of it, but she loved moving it everywhere on her highchair.

She was kind enough to offer some to me. I chose to decline her offer and have a not smashed one later.

One of the neighbors reading "Sheep in a Jeep" to her....she loves books and Hudson picked that one out for her. It's quite funny.

Another neighbor who loves to give Micayla hugs....even if Micayla is uninterested.

Hudson and Micayla playing with her new teddy bear from Granddaddy and Miss Glenda (my dad and his wife). She likes to roll around on the floor with it.

Hudson and Micayla right before the party ended--playing with her "cell phone," which means I don't have to share mine anymore.
It was a great day and we still feel incredibly blessed to be her parents!

Great pics! Glad her birthday was a success. I just can't believe she's already one! What a cutie!

Oh, the yellow pics might have something to do with the white balance on your camera. Don't know if you can adjust it, but sometimes it will cause distorted colors if it's on the wrong setting.
