Me: Micayla, where are your crocs?
Micayla: Where crocs Mommy?
Me: Yes, where are your crocs?
Micayla: Pink crocs!
Me: Micayla, where did you put your crocs?
Micayla: (shouting) In the movie drawer!
Me: (after looking in said drawer) No, Micayla, they aren't there.
Micayla: (shouting again) They are in Baby Duck's tummy!
Me: No they aren't.
M: They in my tummy?
Me: No they aren't.
M: I put them outside.
Me: No you didn't.
M: Mommy, where are my crocs?
Me: I'm trying to figure that out Micayla.
M: Put them in trash?
Me: Did you put them in the trash?
M: No.
Me: (now I want to yell) Micayla, where are they?
M: I don't know. Will you find them for me?

Sigh...they were located shoved under a piece of furniture this morning.

Micayla (at lunch, while eating strawberries): Mommy, can Dr. Rubin come check my strawberry? (Dr. Rubin is my doctor, whom she's seen once, about 2 months ago).
Me: I don't think so.
Micayla: My strawberry doesn't have socks.

Micayla (while supposed to be going to sleep for her nap, talking to her stuffed sheep):
Sheep, what you doing? Sheep, you get in there and behave next to Flower (her baby doll). Sheep, you too big to ride on the sheep. Daddy's a big boy. Daddy's too big to ride on the sheep. Papaw is big boy too, he's too big to ride on the sheep. Me too little to ride on the sheep. Me have to be 5 to ride on the sheep. Me two. You not two. Sheep don't bite me!

Praying at lunchtime: Thank you God for the rodeo and the zoo and the animals and the carousel and the sheep. Thank you God for food. Thank you God for camper and Daddy come home safe and Mommy and Papaw and Memaw and Kathryn and Lauren and Miles and Aunt Lisa and Aunt Lesli and Uncle Justin and Uncle Emery and Grandaddy and Ms. Glenda. Pray for brother sister right time. Amen.

Oh the laughs we get from this little girl!

On a separate note, anyone computer related know how to make your banner center itself so that it isn't reaching towards the right hand side of the screen? I'm just teaching myself how to do most things but I haven't figured that out yet.

Creamy Tomatillo Dressing

So when Micayla and I flew to Memphis over Spring Break (that post is coming), my sister Lesli had made this dressing for salads that I was really surprised that I liked. So much so that when I got back to my honey and we did grocery shopping, I went ahead and got the ingredients for it. We've eaten it all week, and I've even used it on some sandwiches, and it was yummy! So I thought I would share!

Creamy Tomatillo Dressing

1 package Buttermilk Ranch dressing mix
1 jalapeno, seeds removed (because I don't like much spice)
2 tomatillos
1 bunch cilantro
1 clove garlic, minced
1 lime, juiced

Make dressing mix according to package directions. Cut up jalapeno, lime, garlic, tomatillos, and cilantro and place all in blender, along with mixed dressing. Blend until well mixed. Refrigerate for several hours. (See how easy was that!)

Rodeo Fun!

Hudson loves attending the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo each year, and since it comes to town for three weeks, we usually can fit it into the schedule. Most years we've actually attended the rodeo in the evening, but this year we thought a little wiser and decided that going in the afternoon/early evening would be best for our little one. Keeping her contained in any type of seat is more of a challenge these days, and I certainly didn't want to be "that" attendee of the actual rodeo that had to keep getting up with her child, or telling her child to sit multiple times without much obedience. So the great thing about the livestock show is all the exhibits that they have to attend. We went through a "farm" where Micayla fed the chickens, planted a tomato, picked a peach, picked corn, milked a cow, gathered sheep wool, and then turned everything in at the farmers market for "money." She could buy a treat (chips, crackers, juice, etc.) with the money she earned for doing her part in contributing to the farmers market. Micayla's favorite exhibit was the "birthing center" where they know certain cows will give birth during the rodeo, as well as goats, sheep, and pigs. Her second favorite part was the petting zoo...we might have a vet on our hands because the child loves all animals and isn't scared of them at all.

Petting a bunny (who apparently loves Fruit Loops)

Talking to the chickens (she liked to tell them "gobble gobble"...we need to work on differentiating between chickens and turkeys)

She would climb in there with the mama cow if we let her...this cow had just had a baby calf about an hour before

They have all the pens set up for different animals in the Birthing Center, so these were the lambs that had just been born. Sheep normally give birth to twins or triplets, and the sheep behind Hudson and Micayla had given birth to a set of boy/girl twins earlier in the day. The sign (I know it is little) to the left of Hudson (about waist level) says the new twins' names: Hudson! (and Norma Jean, but I think that sign is hidden). I had to take a picture because it isn't often that you have a lamb named after you without even knowing it!

Looking at more baby animals that had recently been born (piglets, I think)

Trying on a pink cowgirl hat...she really wants one but we don't think she's quite old enough to care for it carefully enough. Maybe in a few years we'll get her one. :)

Playing a matching animal game on Mommy's phone while Daddy investigated different dining options.

Zoo Day!

For the first year, we got the annual pass to the zoo so that we could enjoy going pretty frequently, and since, we have a little girl who adores/talks about/likes a whole lot, all animals. We've not been to the zoo in 2 weeks and she's still talking about it. So, the first Saturday of the month they open up one hour early for members, and Hudson decided we should take advantage of it. Mind you, this meant getting up at 7 am on Saturday (which really isn't that big of a deal since she normally wakes up about then), but it was pouring rain. Hudson had been following the weather and thought that the rain should end by the time we got there, so we packed our bags and headed out. The skies were ominous, but by the time we arrived, it stopped raining, the temperature had dropped about 20 degrees (it was in the low 50's by this point), and the animals were out!
